A Nightmare On Elm Street remake: new pictures
There’s still no proper glimpse at Freddy Krueger, but we’ve got some new shots from the upcoming remake of A Nightmare On Elm Street right here…
With positive word coming out about the incoming remake of George A Romero's The Crazies, perhaps it's best not to fear every plundering of old horror films for modern day versions. But it's still hard not to be a little scared at the thought of the new version of A Nightmare On Elm Street that's arriving later this year.
The problem, of course, is the Platinum Dunes banner that it's been made under, under the watchful eye of producer Michael Bay. Platinum Dunes has to its name thus far the remakes of The Hitcher, The Texas Chainsaw Massacre (and the subsequent The Texas Chainsaw Massacre: The Beginning), The Amityville Horror and Friday The 13th. You'll notice they all have something in common, namely that they're all shit. It's not all remakes, of course, given that it has David Goyer's The Unborn to its name too. But sadly, that's shit as well.
So, what of the A Nightmare On Elm Street remake? In its defence, it seems to have made some smart choices, primarily the casting of Jackie Earle Haley as Freddy Krueger. But there's not much else coming out of the production thus far that inspires confidence.
This latest batch of pictures to emerge, which surfaced on German movie site moviegod.de, may or may not help, though, depending on how you take them. That's appreciating that there's too much you can read into the release of a few snaps. They don't, inevitably, do much to convince the jury either way on whether Platinum Dunes can actually deliver something of genuine quality, but we figured you'd want to see them anyway.
The film itself is set for release on 30th April in the US, and 7th May in the UK.
