A BBC Worldwide newsreader suffers an embarrassing on-air moment worthy of the great Ron Burgundy himself...

"For the last time," wails station director Ed Harken in Anchorman, "anything you put on that prompter, Burgundy will read!"

Dunderheaded news anchor Ron Burgundy's habit of mindlessly reading whatever was put in front of him became a major plot point in that superb 2004 comedy, and a it's an awkward situation a British newsreader got himself on BBC World News recently.

As the Beeb's Jonathan Charles finds to his cost, it's sometimes a good idea to pause for breath between sentences. It's nowhere near as bad as Ron Burgundy's career-destroying outburst in Anchorman, but it's almost as funny...
