New image reveals Quicksilver in X-Men: Days Of Future Past
Want to see what Quicksilver will look like in this year's X-Men: Days Of Future Past? Then look no further...
This May's Days Of Future Past promises to bring us a veritable banquet of X-Men characters, with Bryan Singer's sequel telling a potentially complicated story straddling two separate timelines. And among the familiar returning faces, with the original trilogy's Wolverine (Hugh Jackman), Storm (Halle Berry), and Charles Xavier (Patrick Stewart) meeting up with X-Men: First Class's Mystique (Jennifer Lawrence) and Beast (Nicholas Hoult), there are a few new characters, too.
One of them is Quicksilver, who's a longstanding member of X-Men lore (he first appeared in the fourth issue of The X-Men way back in 1964) but hasn't yet appeared on the silver screen. All that will change this summer, when Evan Peters, who previously appeared in 2010's Kick-Ass and TV's American Horror Story, becomes the first actor to take on the role.
In an odd rights ownership twist, Quicksilver will also appear in Marvel's Avengers: The Age Of Ultron next year, where he'll be played (coincidentally enough) by another Kick-Ass actor: Aaron Taylor-Johnson.
Evans beats Taylor-Johnson's incarnation to the screen by almost exactly a year, though, and there's been much speculation over what he'll look like. Thanks to the power of the internet, we've been given our first look in what appears to be an official set picture.
Quicksilver's there at the back, just behind Wolverine, Magneto (a returning Michael Fassbender) and Xavier (James McAvoy's incarnation, who's standing up, weirdly). Why is it snowing indoors? We're guessing Storm's the culprit.
As a Brucey bonus, Entertainment Weekly has another new image, this one showing Wolverine lying on a table and Beast hanging upside down in what appears to be the X-Mansion.
By the expression on their faces, we're guessing they weren't expecting the camera's flash to be so bright.
X-Men: Days Of Future Past is out in UK cinemas on the 22nd May.
