X-Men: Days Of Future Past casting update
Halle Berry and Omar Sy sign up for Bryan Singer's X-Men: Days Of Future Past. Details here...
Given the fact that X-Men films, by their very nature, tend to be ensemble pieces, it's no surprise that the casting news for the upcoming X-Men: Days Of Future Past just keeps on coming. Director Bryan Singer keeps confirming new names via his Twitter account, and two generations of on-screen X-Men are coming together for the new film.
So, who's the latest to be joining the likes of James McAvoy, Michael Fassbender, Jennifer Lawrence, Hugh Jackman, Ian McKellen, Patrick Stewart and Peter Dinklage in the new movie?
Well, first up, the rumours suggesting that Halle Berry would be returning to play Storm have now been confirmed. Berry herself, talking to Black Tree TV, confirmed that "yeah, I'm excited too", adding "the fans really love Storm, and so I'm really happy that it's worked out that way". How big a role Storm has in X-Men: Days Of Future Past isn't clear, but it's shaping up to be one big X-Men reunion.
The casting news isn't done either. Going back to Bryan Singer's Twitter again, the film's director also revealed that French actor Omar Sy has joined the movie's cast. Sy, best known for The Intouchables, will be taking on an thus-far undisclosed role.
Production finally starts on the movie in the next few weeks. X-Men: Days Of Future Past is set for release in July 2014.

Excellent. Halle did very well in the role in the second and third X-Men films, and is a luminous screen presence as she showed at the Oscars the weekend before last. Having an Oscar herself doesn't hurt, either.
Oh no. ..
"the fans really love Storm" yeah but Im betting that most of them dont like you playing her.
This is gonna be one crowded movie...
Well I did, so I'm happy with this casting.
It's starting to make me wonder if they're going to be able to do justice to all the characters. This is going waaaay beyond Avengers style team ups.
However, if Singer pulls it off then it could set another template for team vs team movies.
Part of me thinks they're going to spring a two-parter on us.
I did too!
I thought Berry was excellent casting for Storm 'back in the day', but had to put up with poor scripting/use of her character.
Each X-men movie they keep trying to give Storm a more important role and each time they only succeed in giving her a new hairstyle.
Is it just me who thinks this film is going to be the biggest mess ever?
I foresee a 2 hour long clusterbomb of mashed up storylines and plot holes. X-Men movies need a reboot.
Agreed, I really have no idea how they're gonna factor in all of the story threads/plot holes from First Class/Origins/X 1, 2 and 3. However as it got time travel in there, I smell a retcon coming on.
I'm excited so far. I liked all the movies but first class was a cut above the rest. Part 3 and wolverine origins were the worst but still better than green lantern ghost rider daredevil ff hulk superman returns catwoman and punisher war zone. And like the man says xmen equals ensemble, I ain't sayin the more the merrier but if there's Apocalypse and bishop, maybe even bring Ben Foster back as Archangel this time, I'll be in line. Actually I will be anyway.
Hey people
Charlize Theron would be Fantastic as EMMA FROST NOW !!!!
Famke Janssen must be back she must get a bigger role as White Phoenix of the Crown

PLEASEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE.......!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Probably not the criticism you'd make of a guy. Especially when the role actually was much bigger.
Hm, a director who hasn't had a hit since the last movie, failing up to do a sequel, cramming in far too many characters... Sound familiar?
Not bothered till they bring Vinnie Jones back as 'the Juggernaut bitch' :P
I agree! Most of the X-Men casts haven't been that good.
I know the kids are going to hate me for saying this, but less-Wolverine please. I know Hugh Jackman's popular, I also know amongst the geeks, Wolverine is on par with Batman, but please... the push to make X-men 3 a Storm and Wolverine movie, ruined it completely.
Yeah, I thought she was excellent in the first movie. She fit the role, but as the movies shifted to become more about Wolverine (and then a renewed focus on Halle in the third), it became less about the X-men and rather about individual actors and their egos.
You're not alone in thinking this.
From Singer on Twitter!!
@BryanSinger: Couldn't be more excited that #HalleBerry has joined the cast of #XMen #DaysofFuturePast. Hopefully she can improve the weather in Montreal.
There you go, she's in!!!
Bigger role does not necessarily mean better role; given the strong likelihood of every other character playing second banana (at best) to Jackman's Wolverine, it won't matter if Storm is played by an Oscar winner or an unknown, and if I were Halle Berry I'd hesitate to hold my X-Men performances up as some of my best acting at any rate.
You said what I thought when I read the article
They should give life to Gambit played by Taylor Keitch. He was the perfect real life replica of Gambit from the comics! He was really cool and awesome as Gambit in Wolverine, plus the fact he's really hot and handsome!
i hope they will stick more to the comics story and not just make their own crazy story again! its frustating!
dickhead! lol
