Hugh Jackman confirmed for X-Men: Days Of Future Past

It’s definite: Hugh Jackman will be reprising the role of Wolverine again, in Bryan Singer’s X-Men: Days Of Future Past

Bryan Singer continues to delve into pre-production work on X-Men: First Class follow-up, X-Men: Days Of Future Past, and he’s been Tweeting updates as he’s gone along. He's previously revealed, for instance, that both Sir Patrick Stewart and Sir Ian McKellen were set to join the cast of the new film, alongside the younger versions of their characters (although at the time it seemed as though their deals weren’t locked). And inevitably, there was talk of Hugh Jackman reprising the role of Wolverine once again.

And now, that’s turned out to be more than just talk, as Jackman has now been confirmed for X-Men: Days Of Future Past. Singer confirmed the news on his Twitter account, promising also that there was “more to come”. We await further news eagerly.

X-Men: Days Of Future Past shoots next year, and will be released on July 18th 2014.

I love Hugh Jackman and Wolverine, but Wolverine will become so omnipresent in the movies as he is in the comics? Wolverine to appear in Spider-Man, Wolverine to appear in the Avengers, Wolverine to appear in Fantastic Four, Wolverine for all franchises!

And he will tell them to F-off again?

Professor X: "Hello Wolverine, I know our last meeting was not very conclusive, however...if you would take the time to li....."

Wolverine: "F**k off"

Professor X: "How rude!? Don't you find it weird that when I was in X-Men, I had NO recollection of ever meeting you in the past? Quite the plot hole that eh!"

Right can someone please explain how in the blue Beast's balls the continuity is gonna work on this.

I assume we're now discounting Wolverine Origins entirely, apart from it being crap plotwise (I do not include Liev Schreibers Sabertooth in that assessment as he was the best thing in it), as it had a walking Xavier a number of years after First Class was set.

Also, how does Xavier and Magneto not remember (or at least appear not to) Wolvie in X1, or was that just another plothole produced by First Class. Oh and that also doesn't explain how Storm or Cyclops do not remember Wolvie from Origins.

As I have now gone cross-eyed and have a headache, i'm gonna sit the rest of this one out. By the time this is released, they'll be 7 movies in and already in need of a ret-con!

How about they make a film without that guy. Honestly what is so great about that character.

Perhaps the time travel mechanism is their plan to reconcile any continuity problems? Or maybe it's just inconsistent script editing? Or different staff working on each film? For the most part, the X-Men films stand apart as good cinema (well, except Origins and Last Stand, for me) so I don't over-dwell. In trying to unify them, though, it does irk a bit.

Did you miss the bit where Patrick Stewart and Ian McKellan were confirmed for this too? The Jackman bits don't have to be straight prequel stuff, they can tie into the time travel plot.

He didn't last time. He told them to go f themselves.

I assume Brannon Braga has a hand in this then? .................. geddit?

Storm was not in Origins, and Cyclops was blindfolded the whole time

x1-3 has nothing to do with this its a reboot, meaning the other crappy movies dont matter since its going to start over...MAIN POINT I HATE REBOOTS THEYRE CONFUSING SMFHH. THATS LIKE LOIS KNOWS SUPERMAN IS CLARK KENT BUT IN SUPERMAN RETURNS SHE FORGOT LOL WTF OH RIGHT A REBOOT -__- NOT YOUR FAULT MAN ITS THESE RICH PEOPLE BUYING COMPANIES AND FU**ING IT UP

WOLVERINE IN BATMAN SUPERMAN AND SPAWN LOL

Which one was a kiddy Storm in then? I'm sure it was either Origins or First Class.

And you can't tell me that not one of the mutant children didn't mention in passing to Cyclops that they were rescued by a bloke with anger issues and metal claws? And to that point, surely Xavier must have asked them before putting them on the chopper.

Days of Future Past is an alternate future storyline from the comics, showing events happening both in present day and an apocolyptic future. It's entirely possible that in the film Wolverine will only be in the 'future' sections of the film, which would be set after he's joined the X-men.

Kiddy Storm was in FC and was one of the mutants shown when Xavier activated Cerebro.

My take is that whatever continuity they are in, the older versions of the characters will always turn out to look like the actors from X1-3 so it doesn't necessarily mean they are the same characters from those original movies.

However, if they work it right then everything in X1-3 will have happened but the mutants from the past will see it and want to avoid it and after identifying a particular inciting act will do their best to stop it from happening thus allowing the franchise to move forward without having to worry about tying into the previous movies.

Also, the reason that X and M don't remember Wolvie in X1 is because Origins and First Class hadn't been written at that point so there was no continuity to have to tie into! It's the nature of comics that first meetings are revised as time goes on and new stories change the past in ways that the original story had not envisaged. It's no biggie and nothing to worry about.

Should make a great film greater with jackman in it
