The X-Men: First Class follow-up is now set to sign up Hugh Jackman, to join Patrick Stewart and Ian McKellen...

Yesterday, X-Men: Days Of Future Past director Bryan Singer Tweeted the news that Patrick Stewart and Ian McKellen were set to rejoin the X-Men franchise in the roles of Professor X and Magneto. The new film, the follow-up to X-Men: First Class, sees old and new versions of the characters from the original X-Men movie trilogy. And it seems that now includes Wolverine.

Hugh Jackman finally finished shooting on next summer's The Wolverine just last week, but he's now apparently in talks to reprise the role once more for X-Men: Days Of Future Past. We'd expect this news to be confirmed shortly.

Shooting is set to start on the new film next spring, ahead of its release in the summer of 2014.

Men those are GREAT news for all x-men fans. Patrick Stewart, Ian McKellen and Hugh Jackman - am i dreaming?

Is there a chance that Hugh Jackman may be becoming typecast ?!?

Doubtful. Milking it. Maybe. Most likely. But wouldn't you want to keep the cash cow alive? Or given that he's a fairly decent bloke he may be doing some of these as a thank you for launching his career further. Unlike some other actors I could name that turn their backs on their beginnings. Not that its my cup of tea but Les Miserables is out shortly with Hugh and I'm pretty sure thats far from Wolverine.... I'm sure though someone will draw a line between the two......Sideburns?

As an actor I guess you just have to go where the offers are.

I'm sure he needs this new wolverine movie to go well considering how well the first one went down as well as his involvement in that Aronofsky film. If he can get new momentum from this and a turn in DOFP then I'm sure he'll get a few more roles again as he did post-X1 & 2.

Excellent. However, let's not make him the main character this time, eh?
My one problem with Singers, otherwise brilliant, X-films is that sometimes they might as well be called: "Logan: Oh, also some X-Men occasionally"
In fact, that was the truly great thing about FC. For the first time we actually got an X-men film ABOUT the X-men...

Unless his character has adamantium claws in Les Miserables I would say probably not

Correct me if I'm wrong, but doesn't that potentially mean he'll be playing two Wolverines in this movie, considering he was in First Class?

Exactly. Wolverine was the role that brought him fame, and he's always been grateful for that.

my goodness. The X-Men Cinematic Universe is going to be very jumbled up. Feel sorry for people who attempt to make a timeline.

I hope his role is minimal
