X-Men: First Class

The follow-up to X-Men: First Class is to be directed by Bryan Singer, it's been confirmed...

If Fox was looking for an empty news day to reveal its choice of director for X-Men: Days Of Future past, the sequel to X-Men: First Class, then it was out of luck. The Internet was happily exploding with the news that Lucasfilm had been sold to Disney, and that a new Star Wars movie was coming, when it made its announcement.

It’s a logical and welcome announcement, though. Bryan Singer, he who directed X-Men and X2, has signed up to direct X-Men: Days Of Future Past, as had been expected. Had scheduling allowed, he was in line to direct First Class, too, and this time he’s swapping roles with Matthew Vaughn. Singer produced First Class, which Vaughn directed. This time, Vaughn is on producer duties.

The film is set for release on July 18th 2014.

Furious anger... fading... away... Enthusiasm... Returning...

Phew...

I just wonder IF they are REALLY gonna do a take on the "Days of Future Past" story, or are they just using that title? That story uses the characters that we are all familiar with from the first 3 films, but not so much the XMen First Class "world"

I'm a bit confused. I was under the impression that there were two new X films in the pipeline....a sequel to First Class and X-Men 4, the latter of which was going to take on the DoFP stoyline.

Can anyone clarify this, or have I got the completely wrong end of the stick with this?

FIrst Class has always been the next X-men movie and it was always going to be DOFP.

What's happened is that with the original X-men Trilogy cast appearing in the future storyline as the future selves of the First Class, there have been rumours of them also looking at doing a sequel to the original trilogy as X-Men 4. I've not seen anything of substance on it though..

Title still sounds like a terrible 80s sitcom...

Thanks for clearing that up. Clearly I'm just making up comic book movie news

That's nothing, just had some really weird dream about Disney...
