Warcraft release date locked, Star Wars date up in the air
Duncan Jones' film of Warcraft secures a December 2015 release date. Which begs the question: when is Star Wars: Episode VII going to land?
It was already known that Duncan Jones' film of Warcraft was set to arrive in cinemas in 2015. But now it's been confirmed exactly when we can expect it.
On the official Warcraft Twitter account, a Tweet has been posted that confirms the film will be arriving in cinemas on December 18th 2015. And that's interesting for two reasons. Firstly, this is a videogame adaptation that's going to go head on with the big Christmas movie marketplace (a bit of a tough crowd sometimes). And secondly, that's around and about where Star Wars: Episode VII was now expected to land.
Universal and Legendary Pictures are nobody's fools, and were rumours correct that Star Wars was set for December 15th 2015, you can't imagine they'd schedule a nine-figure blockbuster for a couple of days later.
It does beg the question as to just when JJ Abrams' Star Wars movie is now due, although whenever it lands it's going to have a huge impact. But Disney and LucasFilm will still want to find a bit of space for it in the 2015 release schedules somewhere. That seems to be getting harder to to.
Still, we're looking forward to Warcraft immensely, and can't wait to see what Duncan Jones comes up with. We're happy to rewatch Moon and Source Code a few times before we find out, too...
