Uncharted movie finally lands a new director

The director of The King Of Kong, Seth Gordon, is now in line to direct the Uncharted movie...

The movie based on the Uncharted videogame series has been in development for a while now, and several directors have been linked. Most notably, David O Russell and Limitless' Neil Burger were on board the project at one stage, before both opted to pass.

Well, it looks like the movie is back in business. Seth Gordon is now reportedly in negotiations to direct the film, which last we heard had Marianne and Cormac Wibberley (National Treasure) working on the screenplay.

Gordon, of course, came to prominence with a videogame movie, the quite brilliant documentary The King Of Kong. Since then, he's directed a trio of hit comedies, in the shape of Horrible Bosses, Identity Thief and Four Christmases. For our money, The King Of Kong by distance remains his best film.

It's still early stages on his involvement with Uncharted, but if he could hurry along and get Nathan Fillion cast in the film, that would be a marvellous place to start. More on the movie as we hear it.

Mandy Patinkin for Sully!!!

Nathan Fillion for erm, Nathan!

I didn't know I needed this until now...

Thank you, kind stranger.

He'd have to get Nathan F on a massive diet and workout scheme! Have you seen the old tubster on Castle lately?!

Probably unrealistic now, but given how ace Captain America 2 is looking, I would have been interested to see the Russo brothers linked to this. Do have faith in Seth Gordon but found Identity Thief unwatchable.

As for casting - always thought Bradley Cooper made sense as Drake when he was mooted last year. Hopefully they keep the amazing theme music from the games. But mainly an Uncharted film might finally be happening, which is excellent news.

I loved king of kong and wondered what the director had gone on to do. I didn't realise it was three terrible films.

Yeah, get Nathan Fillion as Nathan Drake and keep true to the games! Not the whole idea they had with Mark Walmberg and Danny DeVito.

If Carrie Fisher & Mark Hamill can do it for Ep VII, then Fillion can do it for Uncharted. He's already on record saying that he'd be interested.

My initial thought was that he's too old, but he's barely older than Harrison Ford from Raiders. Hmmm...

Seeing as how the game designers based the character of Nathan on Nathan Fillion's Malcolm Reynolds, it's kind of a no brainer to cast him. As for sully, there's only one person I can envisage in the role: Bruce Campbell

I'd be happy with either Nathan Fillion or Nolan North :) You just know the studios will pick someone like Jeremy Renner though :P
