What do we know about Wally Pfister's Transcendence?
Long-time Christopher Nolan collaborator Wally Pfister makes his directorial debut shortly. So what do we know about Transcendence?
Full production isn't far off now on the directorial debut of Wally Pfister. Pfister has been Christopher Nolan's long-time director of photography, winning an Oscar for his work in Inception. And for his first feature fully calling the shots, he's making Transcendence.
The project is backed by Warner Bros, with Christopher Nolan one of the executive producers. And the studio has now announced that principal photography will begin on the film in April.
It's already been long known that Johnny Depp was taking the lead role in Transcendence, and Paul Bettany has subsequently signed onto the project too. Warner Bros has now also confirmed that Rebecca Hall is the latest addition to the cast of Transcendence. That's hardly a shabby cast for your first feature, and is credit, surely, to the reputation that Pfister has built up.
There's no formal word on the story for the film, although we do know that Jack Paglen has credit for the screenplay. The outline that's been doing the rounds reads: "A story centered on a scientist whose brain is uploaded into his creation -- a supercomputer with the potential to think for itself - after he is assassinated by anti-technology terrorists". How official that outline is remains to be seen.
The final piece of solid information we currently have on the film is its release date. It's due in cinemas on April 25th 2014.
As more information on Transcendence comes to light, we'll let you know. Don't be surprised if all concerned try and keep the wraps on this one a little though. It's still a film well worth keeping your eye on nonetheless...

The guy started out doing camera work for soft porn films. He's paid hiss dues and I'm looking forward to his first directorial debut.
