New poster for The Wolverine

Hugh Jackman takes centre stage, unsurprisingly, in the moody new poster for James Mangold’s The Wolverine…

About the only major summer blockbuster that hasn’t had a new trailer debut this week (at least it feels that way) is Fox’s latest X-Men movie, The Wolverine. Directed by James Mangold and starring Hugh Jackman, the film promises to learn from the missteps of the disappointing X-Men Origins: Wolverine, and it’s taken the title character to Japan this time around (inspired by the 1980s comic book storyline from Chris Claremont and Frank Miller).

There’s been some effort made to distance The Wolverine from its predecessor, the latest example being this new poster for the film. There’s a motion poster version doing the rounds too, which you can find by clicking on the link below. It adds a bit of rain, from what we can see. It makes the noise of rain too. Here's the quiet and non-motion version.

The Wolverine arrives in cinemas next July. By the sounds of it, expect the trailer early next year. We might, of course, be wrong on that though. There's little point us pretending otherwise.

The Wolverine.

All of these "superhero brooding on a ledge" posters... is it the same ledge? Do they have fights over who gets to mope on it on which day of the week?

I'm sure there is some king of schedule.

I think Batman has it most of the time though and just lends it out when other people make films in the hope to be as good as his.

Someone has taken a joke from the god awful Superhero Movie :P

Never seen it. I don't steal jokes. That's cheating. :)

Great image

I love ledge.

Kind of looks like he's holding a sex toy!

I pity your partner then.
