First trailer for The Purge 2

Trailer Simon Brew 13 Feb 2014 - 06:27

The teaser trailer lands for The Purge: Anarchy, the sequel to last year's surprise hit, The Purge...

You can't accuse Universal Pictures and Blumhouse Productions of messing around on this one. Last year, The Purge took a good concept - 12 hours where you're allowed to break the law - and turned it into a film that didn't measure up to the strength of that idea. Nonetheless, it proved to be a profitable hit, and a sequel is being turned around in double quick time.

James DeMonaco is back as writer/producer/director, with Frank Grillo and Michael K Williams starring.

Take a look then at the first trailer for The Purge: Anarchy, which is scheduled to land in UK cinemas on July 4th. See what you make of this...

Dunno about you guys, but I kind of think an interesting story would be one where the carnage doesn't stop when the purge is officially over.

That is actually really clever. They should hire you sir as their main creative force. Would be better than half the other horror films that are getting released these days.

The original was an idea better suited to an episode of The Twilight Zone, where it wouldn't hang around long enough to be examined too thoroughly to see all the holes. There's nothing I've yet seen to indicate that the sequel will improve on the original - that's not meant as a compliment, by the way...

Theirs a lot of potential for this idea. The first was good, hopefully this can improve on it.
