Really good poster for The Last Stand

Arnold Schwarzenegger takes the lead role in Kim Jee-woon’s The Last Stand. The poster for it is really rather impressive…

Well, this is a cut above the posters we’ve been seeing of late. Marking the first Arnold Schwarzenegger lead role in a movie since Terminator 3: Rise Of The Machines, The Last Stand – from director Kim Jee-woon – arrives in cinemas in January. And at New York Comic Con, which is just getting underway, the following was released:

That’s some piece of work. We miss hand-drawn posters.

We’ll have a lot more on The Last Stand in the next couple of months.

That is a good poster, you can barely tell it's Knoxville in the glasses. Someone in Marketing must be clued up!

The brightly contrasting colours hark back to the classic action thriller posters of the 70s. Reminds me a lot of the posters for Way of the Dragon, Logan's Run, Death Race 2000, Westworld and Death Wish (Arnie is in exactly the same pose as Bronson).

That's cool, who did that one? Reminds me of The Dude Designs.

Beautiful. This really highlights the lazy over-reliance on photoshop in most posters these days...

Is that David Tennant with a 'tasche at three o'clock? ;-P

Delta Force!...Wait, never mind. Looks 80'stastic

I love it

It's a bit silly; it's just a bunch of people from the film shooting at different directions. Oh well I guess it's Arnie. All is forgiven.

I hope Arnold's time spent in politics hasn't dulled the haunting majesty of his acting performances.

This poster looks like it was drawn-up by the late & very great commercial artist Frank Bellamy (died 1976), sometimes referred to as Britain's greatest ever comic artist, and I agree with that. The style of this poster could even be based on Bellamy's style. (If yu don't know Frank Bellamy's work, Google his name and give yourself several genuine treats.) That clever touch makes this poster - for me - probably the best movie poster for the last 30 years!
