The Inbetweeners

This time, the rumour is true: The Inbetweeners Movie 2 might just be on the cards after all...

Ever since The Inbetweeners Movie did very scary numbers at the UK box office last year (and it's just about to land in the US, a year later) there have been countless reports of a sequel on the way. None of them have been true, of course, but that hasn't got in the way of the reports continuing to flow.

However, the story started surfacing again today that a new Inbetweeners movie was now on the proverbial table, and so we went and checked it out with the show's co-writer and co-creator Iain Morris.

And do you know what? It might just be happening this time.

We asked him if the new rumours are true, and he told us "sort of, yes. We've got an idea, think we'd like to do it if we can make it good, but we're a long way from it really happening. Long way".

So: in the works, but not definite? "Yes. I think we all want it to happen, but the 'ifs' are quite big", he told us.

So: The Inbetweeners Movie 2 has gone from no chance to some chance. We'll keep you posted as we hear more, but it'll be a while before the project movies forward, by the sounds of it.

clungtastic!

Kinda want it to happen, kinda don't.
The first film was made as a treat, a final farewell for the fans. A sequel would slightly ruin it.

Is it weird that I really hate the idea of this?

Yes. Yes it is.

I think the ending was a great place to leave it, but as long as they don't hit the reset button and perhaps move onto Fresh Meat's territory then there is certainly potential for another.

Calling it the Inbetweeners will be stretching the original premise though even though the cast will no doubt be the same. Just give us more of Greg Davies and Will's Mum though please! Preferably as a couple in order to inject further awkwardness!

Part 2: After a semester or two apart;
Jay, who is tired of working with his father, comes up with a grand scheme to
attend university in the States, and gets Neil to come along. They apply to a
for-profit school that accepts everyone. Simon is terribly unhappy at university
after being dumped, so he entertains the idea as well, just to visit the states
to get his mind off of the break up. Will of course not wanting to be left out,
and in attempts to fight for Simon to stay at university with him decides to
embark on this journey as well. In the end Jay stays to attend school in the
States, Neil ends up as a background dancer on an American TV show, and Simon
and Will go back to England to finish their education. It leaves room for a 3rd
installment a few years down the road! The Inbetweeners 3: Now what? All back
in England living with their parents looking for jobs!
