Jennifer Lawrence returns as Katniss, as The Hunger Games sequel starts filming...

As the first The Hunger Games movie sells millions of DVDs and Blu-rays, production has now begun on the second, Catching Fire.

The second film is being directed by Francis Lawrence (I Am Legend, Water For Elephants), and sees Jennifer Lawrence returning to reprise the role of Katniss. Also returning are Liam Hemsworth, Josh Hutcherson, Woody Harrelson, Elizabeth Banks, Lenny Kravitz, Stanley Tucci and Donald Sutherland.

There have been additions to the cast this time around, and we're intrigued to see just what Snow White And The Huntsman's Sam Claflin does with the character of Finnick Odair. MTV, incidentally, is reporting that Garret Hedlund (Tron: Legacy) was approached about that role, but the actor said that "I was working on [On The Road, his latest film] at the time. We shot the whole film in 23 days and I was really immersed in it. I couldn't get around to [reading The Hunger Games books]".

The Hunger Games: Catching Fire is shooting near Atlanta, before heading off to Hawaii. Production is set to be complete in December, which will free Jennifer Lawrence to start work on the X-Men: First Class sequel in January.

The Hunger Games: Catching Fire is due in cinemas in November 2013.
