New picture: Martin Freeman in The Hobbit

News Simon Brew 6 Sep 2012 - 07:18

Martin Freeman is Bilbo Baggins, and he’s running away in this new shot from The Hobbit…

Much of the talk of late regarding Peter Jackson’s films of The Hobbit has, inevitably, been centred around the decision to squeeze a third movie out of the story. While debate rages about that, though, it seems to have taken the focus off the fact that the first of the trilogy is heading to cinemas this December.

We suspect a new trailer can’t be too far away, but in the meantime, a fresh picture of Martin Freeman as Bilbo Baggins has popped up. It’s appeared over at Entertainment Weekly, and sees Freeman running away from the backside of an animal. That’s the best we can do. Ahem.

The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey arrives in cinemas on December 13th in the UK, the day after in the US.

"backside of an animal"? Did Simon fail his 'pig recognition' exams?

This isn't particularly relevant, but at Legoland the model lego pigs have anuses.

It's all about the detail.

I'd say that relevant! :-)

I know this is probably a dumb question, but what's he holding? Is it the map?

Looks more like a newspaper.

He's holding his contract with the dwarves.

Agreed. I don't see how lego pig anuses could ever not be relevant.

I see he's rocking a very on-trend plum-coloured velvet coat.

It's his Burglar contract with the Dwarves.
