Might Tom Sizemore be fighting an army of action superstars in the third Expendables movie?

It's no secret that work is underway on a third The Expendables movie, with last year's sequel proving to be a really rather profitable worldwide hit. There have been lots of rumours surrounding The Expendables 3 as well, with Jackie Chan, Nicolas Cage and Harrison Ford amongst the names banded around for the new film.

And now there's another to add to the list: Tom Sizemore.

Talking to Movieweb, Sizemore was discussing the conditions filming in Bulgaria for his latest film Company Of Heroes, before adding "I might be going back there for The Expendables 3. I'm up for the lead villain".

Sizemore added his respect for Sylvester Stallone. "He gave me my first real break in Lock Up. I love that guy. He never, ever turned his back on me... he's the most consistent friend I ever had". If memory serves, Mickey Rourke said similar things when he agreed to do the first The Expendables movie, citing the fact that Stallone gave him a break at the point he needed it at the most.

More on The Expendables 3, which we're expecting in the summer of 2014, as we hear it.

Tom Sizemore?!? Seriously?!? What a terrible idea

No wait! Michael Madsen could be his lieutenant?

Tom Sizemore after Van Damme ?
That's actually downsizing.

I always get those two confused. Esp now that everything they're in is straight to DVD.

What's with all the Sizemore bashing? He's ace in a whole truckload of movies, especially NBK, True Romance, Heat and Private Ryan. Well I'm excited!

Don't tell me! He's gonna been playing a character with the rank of sergeant?

Tom Sizemore is a fine actor, but not exactly who I think of as an 80's action star or icon. Definatley not a good successor to Eric Roberts and Van Damme. They need Snipes! He can play a great villain and could probably use the pay check. There is always Carl Weathers, Tony Jaa, Christopher Lambert, and Steven Segeal.

Tom Sizemore should not be underestimated. He's been through the wilderness, but he seems to be back on form these days and, given a good scenery-chewing villain role, I think he could knock it out the park. With an important role like the villain, it's often better to get a B or C-lister who really WANTS it, rather than an A-lister phoning it in for a paycheck.

I agree that Tom Sizemore does not come with the action star status of Van Damme and Roberts but he could well surprise everyone. I've enjoyed him whenever he's turned up on a film.

I'm tired of the bad guy not being bolo eying in these films. It's sickening. And where's Ironside? And Cary Hiroyuki Shang tsung Tagawa? And tiny lister deebo Zeus junior esquire Mandela the 3rd? Or is he disqualified because it would be too awkward to put him and his Friday replacement in the same film? Fight to the death, like mike epps and Chris tucker did, ya pansies

Also, we need a face/off remake. Starring Mel Gibson and Danny Glover

+1 for Christopher Lambert.

Sigourney Weaver!

Where the hell is Christophe Lambert ??? I thought the point of The Expandables was to reunite all the Action/ B movies stars, where is him ??

Getting to sound more and more like a DTD movie. After "The Last Stand", "Parker", "Bullet to the Head", " A Good Day to Die Hard". "The Cold Light of Day": "The Package" and "The Sorcerer and the White Snake", this whole cast needs a hit movie and Tom Sizemore isn't an attention getter, who's next Billy Zane and Casper Van Dien. Get Mel Gibson, everybody would at least be talking.

I agree w/ Mehrine I mean Tom Sizemore is a great actor but you had Van Damme as the Villian in the 2nd film your downsizing the film now you have to get a Vilian more bigger or more a treat then Van Damme Harrison Ford I think could play a good Villian or Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson & have Tony Jaa bee his aide kick I bet you ppl will be lining to see Stallone go against The Rock & Tony Jaa
