Denzel Washington is bringing The Equalizer to the big screen - and here's the first trailer...

Believe what we've been told so far, and Sony has no shortage of faith in its upcoming movie of The Equalizer. The film, which stars Denzel Washington and reunites him with his Training Day director Antoine Fuqua, is set to arrive in cinemas in September. And Washington will be taking on the title role, with Chloe Grace Moretz amongst the supporting cast.

Plans for a sequel to The Equalizer are already afoot, and it looks as if this is going to be slightly more hard edged than the majority of action-centric movies coming out of major studios. This is a good thing.

We're looking forward to seeing the final film, but for now, here's the trailer, which gives a clearer idea of how The Equalizer is shaping up...

Can someone remind me why it's called the Equalizer?

Looks good. Fuqua is no-nonsense, and I'd watch Denzel mow the lawn. Bring it on.

Good trailer looks decent a thriller/ action film that looks like it will deliver a freshness into the genre

Looks good, but *so* wanted the original theme music. :-)

He teaches people how to use a calculator

That looks like a decent action movie. What it doesn't look like is The Equalizer.

Although, If he said, "16 seconds" and then the badass tv theme tune started up instead of the R'n'B, that could have been the best trailer of 2014, lol.

I just don't understand this film's reason for being... Is it's only connection with the tv series that the lead is an old geezer? I don't understand why they couldn't have called it something else considering it bares very little resemblance to the original series...

I'm not hearing Copeland.

It's looks good but definitely is not the Equalizer

No connection to The Equalizer what so ever....Why bother?

I'll go on record and say this looks good...but yeah, it's not the equalizer. Not the one my Dad used to go on about anyway. I only remember bits, I was like 4 when this aired originally.

No no no. No Copeland, a storyline that runs in the opposite direction to Edward... plus Denzel looks capable. Edward never did.
