Has The Equalizer finally got a director?

The Equalizer

The director of Training Day and Olympus Has Fallen might just be on board for The Equalizer, starring Denzel Washington...

It looks like it might be third time lucky for The Equalizer movie project, which has been having a few troubles over the past few months. The project was first revealed last year, when Denzel Washington was linked with starring in the big screen take on the 1980s television show.

At that stage, Drive helmer Nicholas Winding Refn was in pole position to direct, but he reportedly left the project at the start of the year (if, indeed, he'd ever been attached to it). Next in line? The rumour mill started pointing at Rupert Wyatt, but he too soon passed.

Finally, though, we might have a winner. On the eve of the US release of his new film, Olympus Has Fallen, director Antoine Fuqua is reportedly on the verge of signing up to direct The Equalizer. Fuqua, of course, directed Denzel Washington to an Oscar with Training Day.

The plan is still to have the film in cinemas next year, and so hopefully The Equalizer finally has its team in place.
