The Equalizer loses its latest director
Rise Of The Planet Of The Apes' Rupert Wyatt drops out of The Equalizer movie...
The planned big screen take on The Equalizer isn't having quite as smooth a journey as it once seemingly was. It's been known for some time that Denzel Washington was taking the lead role in the movie, and at first, it looked as if Drive helmer Nicholas Winding Refn was going to direct.
Winding Refn pulled out of the project though, but it seemed as though Sony had found a more than able replacement in the shape of Rupert Wyatt. Wyatt, who has The Escapist and Rise Of The Planet Of The Apes to his name, was all but announced last month. However, he too has now left the project.
It's understood that scheduling issues were behind his departure (it was the tight schedule that apparently led to him turning down Dawn Of The Planet Of The Apes), and there might just be something to that, given that Sony is targeting an April 11th 2014 release date for The Equalizer.
Still, that's two quality directors down, and at the moment, 13 months to turn a movie around. No pressure on whoever takes the job, then...

I wonder if I could be a director... I'd work cheap
Joe Carnahan. I'm just going to keep saying it til it happens. After missing out on Daredevil and Death Wish I want to see him let loose on something that suits his sensibilities.
I'm telling you Carnahan, carte blanche, with Megan Ellison financing and we'd get a classic. The man's like the Steinbeck of film.
Why don't they just let this one go?
Hell yes. Does anyone actually give a damn about this movie?
Who on earth wants an Equalizer movie? It was an average forgetable tv show
"the Steinbeck of film" ha ha ha!!! laughable comment. ha ha ha!
Well. he has facial hair and a low tolerance for fools. That'll do me!
