Avengers: Age Of Ultron news round-up

James Spader's Ultron, some help for Tony Stark, and a slight hint of Captain Marvel in our round-up of the latest The Avengers 2 news...

Joss Whedon and his team are currently hard at work making the sequel to 2012's The Avengers, with Avengers: Age Of Ultron set to land in cinemas next year. A few new bits and bobs have popped up surrounding the project too, and so we've done a small round-up here.

Firstly, James Spader is set to play Ultron in the movie, and Marvel Studios' boss, Kevin Feige, has been chatting about him. "Our bad guy is great", he told Movies.com. "We love Ultron from the comics, and have always loved Ultron, and at no point do we want him to just be a robot. We want him to have an extreme personality and attitude, and James Spader is doing an unbelievable job". He added that "for us it's always about subverting expectations. Whenever you think you know what's coming next, we surprise people or deliver it in a slightly unexpected way. And Spader is doing that with Mr Ultron".

In the same interview, Feige also confirmed that the first unit shoot of The Avengers 2 would be commencing in "another week and a half". It's been mainly second unit work that's been done so far.

A recent addition to the Avengers: Age Of Ultron cast, meanwhile, is Kim Soo Hyun. The South Korean actress doesn't apparently have more than a small supporting role in the movie, but she's said herself now that "I am a doctor/scientist who is friends with Tony Stark". Make of that what you will.

And - why not? - how about ending with a wild rumour? Elmayimbe of Latino Review is suggesting that the character of Captain Marvel may be arriving on screen sooner than expected. Yesterday, we reported that Kevin Feige had admitted a Captain Marvel movie had been talked about. Elmayimbe is arguing that the character will appear in Avengers: Age Of Ultron. We'd take that with a pinch of salt for the minute, but you never know...

Avengers: Age Of Ultron will be released in the summer of 2015.

I wouldn't be surprised if Carol Danvers gets a name mention or small cameo as a Sheild Agent.

Also great news about Spader. I think we all have high hopes.

Simon, will DoG write an article on Marvel's show tonight? Got my DVR locked and loaded.

I'm not sure I want to see it yet. Marvel are giving away too much about Cap 2 at the moment, and I don't really want to see any more until I've seen that movie

Good point. I haven't watched a cap 2 trailer since last year. I wish I could forget what I saw and I don't even want to watch new gotg trailers. However, since I have tonight's show DVR'ed, I'll just watch it right after winter soldier.

Why do you want to forget what u saw? It's all part of it.

Without getting spoilery, the xmen dofp trailer was perfect. It made me want to go see it. The winter soldier's trailer did too... and then some. I have an idea of at least one big death, and no I don't wanna talk about it lol. I wanna forget!

Remember a couple of reports that costume preparation was delayed because of the British weather.Particularly disappointing when one of The Avengers is a God Of Thunder.Hope it didn't cause too many technical problems.Slightly annoyed about certain people producing articles deliberating about Scarlett Johannsons rumoured pregnancy and if it's going to interfere with the film being made .Surely even proper nerds would consider that her first child may be slightly more important than if it interferes with a movie schedule.Although i'm already convinced that it's not like the world is going to save itself.Would certainly appreciate an article about the special though, please.

Marvel giving away too much about cap 2 no they havent they have only released two trailers and tv spots have you seen the amazing spiderman 2 marketing four trailers and new one about to come out in a couple days now thats giving away too much

You shouldn't really use SM2 as a benchmark. Sony has gone crazy with footage from that film, and apparently another trailer is just around the corner. I was tempted to go see if after the first one, now I'm now so sure

With Cap, I know its going to be good, that's all I need to know for now. Everything else is just a spoiler really. I've seen the trailers, but not the TV spots. I'm saving the rest until next week.

that was an awesome trailer too be fair. And I reckon they could do another GOTG without giving too much away

If it's a preview at the movies then I'll watch it. IF I'm not getting popcorn.

Yeah Spider-Man has practically shown everything but the credits. Not too late for that either...
