Joss Whedon and The Avengers 3 "being determined"
Will Joss Whedon move onto The Avengers 3 after Avengers: Age Of Ultron? That's a good question...
Joss Whedon is a pivotal part of the Marvel screen world, given that he's delivered the studio's biggest hit (The Avengers), a huge TV show (Agents Of S.H.I.E.L.D.) and is directing the biggest movie currently on its slate (Avengers: Age Of Ultron). Whedon also did one or two bits of script work on Thor: The Dark World, and has had some involvement with pretty much every Marvel project since The Avengers hit so big.
It's little secret that Marvel is looking to do a third Avengers film once it's got the second one sorted, and the question's been put to the studio's chief, Kevin Feige, as to whether that's a project Joss Whedon wants to do. "It's still being determined", was the answer. "All of his efforts right now are in what he's doing for us primarily, obviously writing and prepping Age Of Ultron but also in reading the drafts of the films in phase two, watching early cuts...".
Whedon's at as close a stage as any filmmaker can get as to being able to tackle pretty much any project they want, so it may yet be that post-Avengers 2, he explores that a little more. His current contract is believed to end in mid-2015. But as Feige says, "right now, it's all about leading up to Age Of Ultron".
Avengers: Age Of Ultron arrives in cinemas in 2015.
