The Avengers 2 news round-up
With production on Joss Whedon's The Avengers: Age of Ultron set to start next year, we've got a round up of news from the project...
There's been no shortage of chat surrounding 2015's Avengers sequel, The Avengers: Age Of Ultron, not least because people keep asking Joss Whedon about it. And, to be fair, Whedon keeps answering those questions too. So here are the latest bits and bobs surrounding the film.
In particular, Whedon has been chatting to Entertainment Weekly's latest issue. In the piece, he's talked about what he's taken from the first movie to get him ready for the second. "I want to be clearer about how I engage the audience, and where I take them", he said. "I want more control visually, more time to prep it. Not that I didn't dictate every shot - I did. But there's only so much you can do when you're making a summer film when the ball is already rolling as fast as it was when I got in. Why do it again if you can't do it better?"
Whedon also discussed whether he would be willing to kill off a major character in the new film. "Um... maybe?" He said. "But I've have to have a really good reason, a really good reason for [Marvel Studios] to go "we'll cut off a potential franchise, that's fine!". Talking of Marvel Studios, he added that "they know as any good studio does that without some stakes, some real danger, how involved can we get? We don't just rule it out acrosst he board, but neither is the mission statement 'who can we kill?'"
Elsewhere, the rumour that sprung up a week or two back that Elizabeth Olsen was now the frontrunner for the role of Scarlet Witch appears to have been on the money. The Hollywood Reporter has now confirmed Bleeding Cool's original story.
The Avengers: Age Of Ultron will be in cinemas in the summer of 2015.
