Joss Whedon talks Avengers: Age of Ultron
Whedon has been chatting about the Avengers sequel, specifically the antagonist of the piece.
Before the release of Joss Whedon's Avengers: Age of Ultron, there are three more Marvel movies due in cinemas (Thor: The Dark World, Guardians Of The Galaxy, Captain America: The Winter Soldier). Inevitably, those films will feed into The Avengers 2, and even though the new film isn't due until 2015, different bits of information keep coming to light.
The latest piece of info concerns the antagonist of the piece, Ultron, and Joss Whedon has been the man delivering said information. Talking to Entertainment Weekly, he said that "as a character I love Ultron because he's so pissed off. I knew right away what I wanted to do with him. He's always trying to destroy the Avengers, goddamn it. He's got a bee in his bonnet. He's not a happy guy, which means he's an interesting guy. He's got pain. And the way that manifests is not going to be standard robot stuff. So we'll take away some of those powers because, at some point, everybody becomes magic, and I already have someone who's a witch".
So whilst providing info on his antagonist he also confirmed that Scarlet Witch's powers will be magic based in the film. It does sound promising where Ultron is concerned, as for all of the successes of the cinematic universe the films have lacked truly memorable antagonists, with the exception of Tom Hiddleston's Loki.
