Saoirse Ronan rumoured for Scarlet Witch in Avengers 2

Marvel's favourite for the role of the Scarlet Witch in The Avengers 2 is apparently Saoirse Ronan

Whilst not officially confirmed at this stage, recent comments from Joss Whedon and Kevin Feige have strongly hinted that Scarlet Witch and Quicksilver will feature in The Avengers 2. And as far back as last year Feige said that there's an arrangement in place for the use of the characters, providing their lineage isn't brought up.

With the rumours of their presence well established, attention is now turning to who would play them in the new film,. and some information appears to have been released that would indicate that Marvel is favouring Saoirse Ronan for the role of Scarlet Witch. The studio is apparently looking to depict the characters as British rather than Eastern European.

Ronan is a fantastic actress who has demonstrated her action credentials in Joe Wright's rather excellent Hanna, so she certainly seems a good choice for the role. Appreciating that it's merely a rumour at this stage and might not actually happen, it's still a positive sign for the casting of the character. With this rumour released now, we would suspect rumours for the casting of Quicksilver to follow shortly.

It is long past time than Ronan stopped being referred to as a rising talent and started being A-List material, regardless of age. Placing her in a film alongside such a fantastic list of talent, both acting and behind the scenes, in a role which is already beloved among fans and in a highly anticipated movie, this could push her into that category. I an 100% behind this casting choice.

Yes Ronan Please!Ever since Hanna, I've been checking her work and this is an actress with fantastic range, She'd make a great Scarlet Witch although she might be a little young having just turned 19, but I'd be jumping for joy if she's chosen, and accepts.

Given the way that Marvel like to tie actors down to multi-picture deals, I think that someone of this age is ideal to play a character who may a have a certain longevity in these films.

If they're looking to bring in younger fans to the Avengers by having the new characters aged 20, then Ronan would be at the top of the list.

I would have picked her as Gamorra but this is cool too.

This. Is. Great. Luke Goss for Quicksilver. He was the best thing about hellboy 2. Dude is good

How's about Neville Longbottom. Young and British. Oh man how did I not see it! Malfoy!

Ronan is an interesting choice. I haven't seen Hanna but I know people who are fans. Mia Wasikowska would also be a very good choice, if they decided to keep the characters Eastern European as she's half Polish.

Watch it, it's good. I don't see geeks not liking this news. Makes me wonder if they'll ever have Vision. He's kinda weird though...

"there's an arrangement in place for the use of the characters, providing their lineage isn't brought up." Eh? What dat all aboot?

In the comics they are magneto's kids and mutants, neither of which can be brought up since Magneto and mutants are under Fox, not Disney.

Good movie, she portrays a good mix of strength and fragility.

I agree. She's a beautiful and talented actor and I hope to see more of her-she's the watchable female version of Michael Fassbender.

OK, I have to bring this up. Why are her looks anything to do with what either of us were talking about? Yes, she is beautiful, but if I'd been singing the praises of Will Smith, would you have said "Yes, I agree, he's a handsome and talented actor"? It is a symbol of what is wrong with the way we treat actresses at the minute that the first praise we will give them is "you are attractive", not "you are good at the job you do".

Sorry for the rant, we don't need to get into the feminism conversation that no one needs or wants to hear, and no I'm not a woman. It's just something to think about. It must be an albatross around the neck of all female actors.

She looks like an albatross. Still excited.

Watch Hanna, she's fantastic in it.

I think younger fans will be more interested in the cool explosions and watching hulk smash. I doubt they pay little attention to how old the actors are.

Look at the trends! Hunger Games, Twilight, boy bands and singers like One Direction and Justin Bieber.
There's a massive market out there who all identify with their idols being late teens and early 20's.

i would like to know if there will ever be a "Hanna 2"? I for one think there's sit;; much story to tell and I'd like to see how life would turn out for her. I don't care too much for super hero movies anymore, LOL!

I didn't mean anything bad by it. It was just a compliment. Besides, my saying she is cute is second place to her acting talent. She's watchable because her skill demands your attention in the scene, something Fassbender perfects (imo).
