Joss Whedon's The Avengers 2 outline complete

News Simon Brew 5 Dec 2012 - 06:18

The story for 2015's The Avengers 2 is already in place. Plus, showrunners appointed for the S.H.I.E.L.D. TV series, too...

Just a small piece of news this, but one we thought might be of interest. As he continues to put the pieces of his S.H.I.E.L.D. television show together for Marvel - with Jed Whedon, Jeffrey Bell and Maurissa Tancharoen now revealed as serving as showrunners - Joss Whedon hasn't been slacking on putting the building blocks of The Avengers 2 into place.

Given that a series of future Marvel projects have to lead some crumbs towards The Avengers 2, it's unsurprising that it's been prioritised so quickly. As it turns out, though Joss Whedon has already turned in his outline for the film to Marvel and Disney. That still leaves some way to go, of course, but it does suggest that The Avengers 2 is in a more advanced state than the other big 2015 blockbusters we know of, Justice League and Star Wars: Episode VII.

Whedon's next job, though, aside from the global roll-out of his next movie Much Ado About Nothing (due in the middle of 2013) will be to shoot the pilot episode for S.H.I.E.L.D. Once he's done with that, we'd imagine he'll be switching fully towards The Avengers 2 mode...
