Chris Cooper joins The Amazing Spider-Man 2

The Amazing Spider-Man 2 has found its Norman Osborn, in the shape of Mr Chris Cooper...

Currently before the cameras in New York is The Amazing Spider-Man 2, which sees Andrew Garfield reprising his role as the famous webslinger. Marc Webb, who helmed The Amazing Spider-Man, is directing again, and new additions to the cast include Shailene Woodley, Jamie Foxx and Paul Giamatti.

And now you can add another name to the list too. Chris Cooper (he's the one on the left in that picture up there) is signing up to The Amazing Spider-Man 2, and he's going to be taking on the role of Norman Osborn, as portrayed by Willem Dafoe in Sam Raimi's Spider-Man trilogy. Whether he'll eventually turn into the Green Goblin in future sequels remains to be seen. With a pair of villains at least in The Amazing Spider-Man 2, there doesn't seem to be room for him to do so in this one.

Dafoe was great, wonder if they will go foe the Osborn comic book hair? 1million in CGI alone to get that right

You've spun your last web, Spider-Man. If you had not been so selfish, your
little girlfriend's death would have been quick and painless, but now that
you've really pissed me off, I'm gonna finish her nice and slow. MJ and I, we're
gonna have a hell of a time!
Maniacal Laugh. Maniacal Laugh.

What a truly excellent bit of casting! Most unexpected as well! Along with Harry Osborn the 2nd installment of new Spidey is warming up to be a really interesting. Not sure about Jamie Foxx as Electro still. I would have liked somebody a bit more 'maniacal' than the smooth as silk RNB love crooner Fox. Still, he tends to be not rubbish at anything he does so benefit of the doubt. Fantastic news that Cooper is on board tho! Well done Spidey casting!

I didn't recognise the name but now that I've seen his face I have seen him appear in a number of films and I was always impressed with him. He's not a big name like william Defoe but I'm confident he can do a good job.

Wow he is really hot, I definitely would

He was a good comedy villain in The Muppets and I can see potential in him being a good evil villain.

Hopefully he's signed for three films at least, allowing a gradual introduction and proper arc for him.

This is good news. He's been in some good roles not the least of which was the neighbor in American beauty. And he'll bring a political/business like villainy that we see in the comics from the thunderbolts to the siege. That's way more dangerous than a loon with a green mask. And flying machine and bombs. And super strength. ANYWAY, Dafoe played a version of green goblin from my childhood, but now, all I see is Civil War. (Not to name drop but didn't that Osborn look a lot like tommy lee jones?)

I actually preferred dafoe not his what's his name - cooper guy nobody's heard about.

What fantastic news. This is looking very good. I can't wait!

He hasn't even done the film yet, man.

You never saw AMERICAN BEAUTY? OCTOBER SKY? The Bourne films?
Just asking....

It will never be the same as that great film :/
