The Adventures Of Tintin sequel to shoot next year?

Peter Jackson looks like he’s going to squeeze in the sequel to Tintin amongst his work on the next two Hobbit movies…

You’ve got to hand it to Peter Jackson, the man knows how to keep busy. With The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey arriving in cinemas worldwide this week, he’s got the small matter of two more Hobbit movies to deliver in the next eighteen months. The Hobbit: The Desolation Of Smaug and The Hobbit: There And Back Again are due in December 2013 and July 2014 respectively (presumably with each also getting an extended DVD/Blu-ray release), and while most of the physical production work is done, there’s an awful lot of post-production to get through.

You might, therefore, conclude that Peter Jackson has no time in his schedule to shoot the mooted follow-up to The Adventures Of Tintin: Secret Of The Unicorn. The idea was that Spielberg directed the first Tintin film, Jackson did the second, and by the sounds of it they arm wrestle to decide who gets the third.

Jackson, however, has found space it seems to get Tintin 2 moving. He’s revealed that he’s looking to film the live action performance capture material at some point next year on the new film. Again, there’s then hefty post-production work involved, and the new Tintin film wouldn’t make it to cinemas until 2015.

A busy man, then. More news on Tintin 2 as we hear it, of course…

I hope PJ has the good sense to have some confidence in the source material and just follow the story of the Tintin book he is adapting, all he needs is there and he doesn't feel the need to add irrelevant characters and action sequences from other books like The Beard did.
"The Red Sea Sharks" is action packed and could easily fill a film length, even "The Castafiore Emerald" could be intriguing with the right treatment. However I really hope PJ has a go at the Moon books, he's the right director to do it. Either that or "Flight 714", he's already proved he can do volcanoes (like Mount Doom and the Mines Of Moria) and he's subtle enough to handle the UFO aspect (sorry for the spoiler!!)

I hope we get this soon because I loved the first. It was almost like we got another (not shitty) Indiana Jones.

My bet is it'll be The Seven Crystal Balls/Prisoners of the Sun. And whilst I love The Castafiore Emerald, I think there's next to zero chance that they adapt that one.

Flight 714 is one of my least favourite Tintin stories. The aliens just felt a little to much out there. I know Tintin has dealt with Mystical elements before but they were always in the background. I would love to see Shooting Star as it's such a strange story. I think The Seven Crystal Balls/Prisoners of the Sun might be the next one just because it's easy to link those two up but it would be nice to complete Red Rackham's Treasure. They will be able to introduce Professor Calculus as well.

I was watching that early 90s Canadian made Tintin cartoon on Netflix the other day and it was awesome. Nice animation style (despite probably being on a cheap budget) and very faithful to the comics from what I could tell. It also kept a good balance between action and the other stuff, had more humour in it. I found that in the Tintin movie from last season, the chase scenes were too long and I felt like I was watching Indiana Jones more than a detective movie.

Tintin has the oppurtunity to be one of those classics that both adults and kids enjoy so I hope the next one is a bit more grittier and heavier story wise. Last one was good but this one if they increase the intelligence level can be something special
