Terminator 5: Alan Taylor in, release date slightly changed

News Simon Brew 17 Sep 2013 - 06:10

A one week delay for Terminator 5, and it now seems confirmed that Thor: The Dark World helmer Alan Taylor will direct...

It looks as if the appointment of Alan Taylor to direct the fifth Terminator movie is now a done deal. Taylor, currently putting the finishing touches to Thor: The Dark World, is set to make whatever Terminator 5 ends up being called. It's also set to be the first in a new trilogy of Terminator movies. Although, to be fair, they said that about Terminator: Salvation too.

Paramount Pictures has slightly put back the release date of the movie anyway. It was set for June 26th 2015, but it's now heading to cinemas - in the US at least - on July 1st 2015. That puts it head to head with Independence Day 2 as things stand at the moment (in a battle of big franchise resurrections), as well as a new film from Illumination Entertainment (the Despicable Me people).

I just don't know what more they can do with this franchise, unless it's a totally original story or ignores loads of stuff that's gone before.

How about a CGI cyborg-racoon (everyone's going to want one after GotG), he#s sent back in time to gather nuts. Saving other woodland creatures on his way "Come with me if you want to survive the Winter" type thing.

What miserable sod would down vote this superb idea?

Maybe people trying too hard to be funny all the time elicits the opposite effect.

Send a Terminator back in time to kill the ancestors of the person who developed the time travel technology so the whole universe resets.

I enjoy the funny comments on here. This section brings me as much enjoyment as the rest of the page itself.

A possible hint.

It's a time travel story.

There's a fake trailer by "How it should have ended" where a terminator is sent back in time by John Connor to assassinate the inventor of time travel - Doc Brown. It's really awesome.

Does it involve a CGI cyborg-racoon?

Only if one is in the wrong movie.

The Terminator comes back to kill Jason Statham......AND FAILS!!!!
