The Platinum Dunes Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles film is set to go in front of cameras this April in New York

Whether fans are fully embracing it or not, a new Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles movie is definitely happening, with Jonathan Liebesman at the helm and Michael Bay's Platinum Dunes being the company behind the production. It's not a firm whose name is synonymous with quality, so obviously that has caused some concerns. Another area of contention is the potential alien origin of the turtles themselves in the new film, meaning the name will be shortened from Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles to Ninja Turtles.

Well, it looks as though the scepticism of the fans has done little to stop the film (not that such things often do), as it's set to start filming in April in New York. The film is currently set to go head to head with Godzilla, on May 16 2014.

Michael Bay has taken time out of his schedule on a number of occasions to address fans' concerns of the film. The summation is to basically tell them to chill out and assure them that those involved, particularly Liebesman, are huge fans of the franchise so he won't let them down. We hope he's right.

I shall remain a skeptic until proven otherwise.

Ninja Turtles!

I have only liked ONE Michael Bay film to date, The Rock. And this most likely because I was a teenager when I first saw it.

I am HOPING that Bay does not ruin my childhood memories of TMNT like he did with Transformers. At the moment, all signs point to 'yes', he will ruin it, but I am trying to keep an open mind.

Maybe it will be better than we all fear.... kinda like the new series on Nickelodeon.

The first transformers was alright. They just took it too far. Oh and Bad Boys and Bad Boys 2 are up there with The Rock as classic cinema!!

Is April aware of this, cause it sounds painful

"oh bay ruined my child hood vision of transformers" give me a break compared to what? an old school cartoon ??? i'm not saying they were bad, but there's no transformers movies to compare bay's films.
