The Statham set for Bridesmaids director's new comedy
Jason Statham and Melissa McCarthy are set to join forces for the new comedy from director Paul Feig...
Don't worry, don't worry, don't worry. This isn't the moment in The Statham's career where he does The Pacifier/Tooth Fairy/Junior/crap like that. This isn't the film where someone thinks it'd be uproarious to put one of the planet's finest action heroes in the middle of a bunch of kids, bereft of his ability to swear and punch bad guys firmly in the face.
Instead, The Statham is joining a comedy called Susan Cooper, which Melissa McCarthy is set to take the lead role in. It'll unite McCarthy with the wonderful Paul Feig (look up Freaks & Geeks if you don't already know the form there), who helmed both Bridesmaids and The Heat. Furthermore, it's a spy comedy, and so you can guess roughly where Stath fits in.
Jason Statham is no stranger to comedy anyway, as his breakthrough role in Lock, Stock And Two Smoking Barrels is evidence of. He's not 100% locked down for Susan Cooper yet, but we'll be keeping our eye on how things go with the project.
The Statham's 2014 releases thus far are a remake of Heat (no, not that one), as well as roles in The Expendables 3 and Fast & Furious 7. One more won't hurt.
