Disney officially confirms standalone Star Wars movies
It's now official: standalone Star Wars adventures are heading to the big screen as well...
There's not much in the way of surprise here, given that there's been chat already about new standalone Star Wars films to run alongside the currently-planned Star Wars: Episodes VII to IX. But Disney has now officially confirmed that that's what it's up to.
The official word came at the firm's annual shareholder's meeting, which took place in Phoenix. And Disney CEO Bob Iger revealed that the company is developing "some standalone movies" that will feature Star Wars characters.
As you might expect, a shareholder's meeting wasn't the place to discuss just what those movies would be - the buffet doesn't eat itself, after all - but there's been no shortage of speculation. Boba Fett? Han Solo? Aunt Beru? Right now, your guess is as good as ours. But we will, of course, keep you posted.
