Star Trek Into Darkness UK release moved forward
The UK will be getting JJ Abrams' Star Trek Into Darkness a week early, it's been announced.
Given that Star Trek Into Darkness is a film many of us are very, very eager to see, we thought you might like the news that we're about to bring you.
And it's this: Paramount Pictures has announced that it's bringing forward the UK release date for the film by one week. Star Trek Into Darkness is now set for release in British cinemas on May 9th 2013. It will also be shown on IMAX screens.
The US release for the film remains marked down for May 17th. And this continues a trend that's increasingly seen blockbusters such as Battleship, The Avengers and next month's Iron Man 3 getting an earlier release in the UK than in the US. We're not 100% sure why, but we're not grumbling about it, at least not from where we're sitting. It partly compensates for us getting films such as The Muppets and Wreck-It Ralph three months after everyone else...

Thank you for making my day! Best news today!
Cool!
I have mixed feelings on this... The earlier release date is nice and all, but now it's no longer coming out just before my birthday. :/
I booked the 16th and 17th off work so I could travel to London and watch it with friends on the Southbank IMAX and then spend a few days in the city. I really hope that I can change the holiday dates!!
sorry but this makes me very happy as it will come out on my birthday :)
Yeah, you know it'll still be showing in those dates you have booked. Chill and enjoy yourself man
May is going to be a busy month.
Haha, fair enough.
Hmm.
I know why Skyfall opened so much earlier in the UK than the US, but Star Trek? It's a big slice of our American pie.
