Second trailer for Star Trek Into Darkness

Trailer Simon Brew 17 Dec 2012 - 16:37

The longer second trailer for Star Trek Into Darkness has now appeared online. And you can watch it right here...

Courtesy of an 'announcement' trailer, and a nine-minute preview that's screening before certain IMAX showings of The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey, we've finally got some kind of flavour as to what shape JJ Abrams' Star Trek sequel, Star Trek Into Darkness, is taking.

However, if you caught The Hobbit over the weekend, you might also have seen the new, different and longer theatrical trailer too, which Paramount Pictures has now released online. There's lots of new footage here, and it's all really rather exciting.

Star Trek Into Darkness, as you probably very well know, is released next May. Much like many of you, we really can't wait to see it. In the meantime, here's that new trailer...

Hang on, was Chekov wearing a red shirt? Oh no...

Oh, Gods! I think I almost heard "Think on your sins" for a second there! Cliches, cliches EVERYWHERE!

Could John Harrison be a misdirection for the villain actually being Sybok? Lots of mention of family and Spock touching the glass with Harrison on the other side makes me think it is a possibility.

Doesn't anyone think it's Kirk's brother? He was in the first Abrams film, after all

that trailer was 1000 times better then the first....but MAN there sure is alot of jumping off things in this one

Possibly - but it's the blue sleeved hand against the glass which makes me think otherwise.

Family? Okay, things are getting interesting.

That moment with Spock's hand against the glass is making me worry that this is a bit *too* close to Wrath of Khan, but still, it looks awesome

The Prometheus Honking trailer returns....
HOOOOONNNNNNK!!!!! Serious wording.....

HOOOOOONNNNNNKKKK!!!! Serious mage......

HOOOOOOONNNNNKKKKK well you get the picture..looks good, but it also looks like a rip off of every other action film / Batman / Prometheus / Trek / mish mash...I will wait to see what its like...but I really am sick of the fog horns now. I wonder how many other trailers will do this. Just imagine...coming next year...the Hobbit 2 - The Desolation of Smaug...."Thorin that looks like a Dragon!!!! "

I see the lens flares are alive and well...All joking aside I've not got high hopes for this as of yet. I hope to be proved wrong though. I also hope the cinema isn't full of Cumberbatch fangirls swooning whenever he comes on screen...

"This video is no longer available due to a copyright claim by paramount pictures corporation" - You'd think they'd WANT people to watch and share their trailer... right?

Damn the video has been removed due to copyright infringement....will have to have a google on this one :-(

Oh, f-'= you paramount!

This looks like one hell of a corker of an action sci-fi drama AND it's Star Trek, keeping the flame alive for a new generation of fans who might just go back, watch and fall in love with the 'classic' movies and TV serials - except maybe Voyager and Enterprise... I wouldn't want them to be disappointed... ;-)

I *am* a Star Trek fan in most of its incarnations (see above) and I'm enjoying the new lease of life that JJ Abrams has brought to the franchise - new energy, new direction, new fans.

We all have a right to our opinions but don't dismiss it just on the grounds that it doesn't fit your view of what Star Trek should be - enjoy it for what it is, don't hate it for what it isn't.

It's looking very good and very much in line with the first film in terms of emphasis on an action film style but there are some nice hints to more depth.

Klingon Bird Of Prey hard ahead at 1.21

Honk? Like a goose?

I do love people judging a whole film based on the trailer alone.

Funny how no one has mentioned how similar the first minute of this trailer is to the Man of Steel trailer.

A really 'thinking' piece of music with someone giving the main character "Make a choice/decide who you wanna be" type of advice.

Pretty certain its Spocks hand against the glass.. he's doing that Vulcan split finger LLAP thingy.

Nooooooo hehehe . Honk like a Prometheus Horn. Thats what I am calling them now. Prometheus Horns. Like in the Prometheus trailer, Startrek Trailer, Batman Trailer and whatever other Trailers it crops up in....That annoying blast of brass instruments like an EXCLAMATION MARK!!!!! to denote massive plot point / image / smack in the face / look at that!!! moment in a Trailer...Designed to be scary, bombastic, and make you sit up and take notice. It screams " LOOK AT ME I AM IMPORTANT!!!"

You know what? Its getting to me that much I now find I use it in daily life, to punctuate various actions for my own amusement, and no one else knows what I am doing, or gets it, and thinks I am mental, but inside I am laughing.

Last night I walked through the living room in the middle of Eastenders and said to me wife

" Would you like a cup of tea?"......." HOOOOOOOOOONNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNKKKKKK!"

She nearly jumped out of her skin and threw a cushion at me as I retreated to the kitchen laughing like Mr Claypole from RentaGhost.....

Try it out yourself...its a scream!!
