JJ Abrams looks like he's recruited Alice Eve for duty in the upcoming Star Trek sequel...

It was just over a year ago that Alice Eve was being strongly linked with a role in Captain America, one that ultimately went to Hayley Attwell. What that proved, though, was that the British actress was firmly on the radar of Hollywood casting directors.

And now? It looks like she’s finally landed herself a sizeable role in a major Hollywood blockbuster (we say that not knowing how big her role is in next year’s Men In Black 3, to be fair).

According to Variety, Eve is the second new addition to the cast of JJ Abrams’ Star Trek sequel, following Benicio Del Toro (who still hasn’t been confirmed, but it seems inevitable he will be). She’s set to appear as a brand new character in the Trek universe (Del Toro is apparently being lined up to play a more familiar face, but we don’t know who), but that’s all the detail we have at the moment.

We'll keep you posted as and when we find out more.

The film starts shooting next month, and you can expect to see it in cinemas on May 17th 2013…
