Jamie Foxx confirms The Amazing Spider-Man 2 involvement

The Amazing Spider-Man 2 will, it seems, definitely see Jamie Foxx playing the villain...

Even though it's seemed pretty much a certainty for a good month or two now, we aren't aware that Jamie Foxx's involvement in the soon-to-shoot The Amazing Spider-Man 2 has been confirmed. That said, Foxx has been strongly linked with playing the villain in the new film, set to be Electro, and lots of hints had been dropped. However, any doubt about the casting has now evaporated, courtesy of Foxx himself.

Talking to Entertainment Tonight, Foxx said that "Electro is a great character". He added that "I met with the director, Marc Webb, I met with Andrew Garfield, and we talked. I think Electro will be an exciting character to play because he's a … genius electrician-type person, and he gets the short end of the stick from the whole world, and the next thing you know he turns it on".

We think that news is pretty much confirmed, then. And overnight, the casting of Harry Osborn was cemented too.

The Amazing Spider-Man 2 is set for release in May 2014.

Well that kills any interest I had.

Why?

But in my POV, my interest in this film just shot up a few notches...but that's just me, I guess....

I cannot stand Jamie Fox and was one of those who wasn't too terribly impressed with the first one.

It's going to be difficult to get excited about Spider-Man as X-Men: Future Past, Justice League and The Avengers are much more exciting prospects to look forward to. I think what they need to do to build excitement is to work there way into introducing the Sinister Six, use Morbius and the Six Arms Saga, which will put Spider-man into a darker story or to introduce Venom and Carnage properly. It's a shame that they can't use the Kingpin as I think having him work in the shadows could be a way to build excitement. I am a big fan of Spider-Man but it's clear that his future is not at Sony - there's no one there he can really team up with the exception of Ghost Rider. I would love to see him back at Marvel, where he could work with Iron Man and Hulk, which are two characters he works well against.

Well said.
Spider-man has fallen off in the Marvel Movieverse, it's hard to get that breath of fresh air we all loved when the first Spider-man film launched at the start of the millenium. I am 100% with you, I think Sony shouldn't beat around the bush and simply go-for-broke with a Spidey-vs-Venom movie retelling, Spidey really needs a challenge.

He also ought to cameo in the Avengers because let's be honest, he's an iconic Marvel character and boy was that movie a Marvel fan's fantasy-come-reality.

why oh why jamie foxx as electro , this actor is known for spitting on his fans . he is a disgrace and should be thrown out of hollywood.
