Chronicle's Josh Trank for Shadow Of The Colossus

The movie of the stunning Shadow Of The Colossus game attracts Chronicle director Josh Trank...

Ah, now is this the project to break the curse of videogame movies? It's a well known fact to all residents of planet Earth that if you make a film based around a videogame, that it will, at best, be tolerable. It might make money, but the end product will not be one making too many people's favourite films list.

That doesn't stop people trying, though, and you can't help but have hope for the movie of the stunning Shadow Of The Colossus. The source material, the game itself, is an extraordinary piece of work. And the film maker being linked with brining it to the screen? He's not too shabby either.

It's been revealed that Josh Trank, who helmed this year's Chronicle, has apparently signed up to make the movie. Where it fits into his schedule remains to be seen: Trank has been linked to the new Fantastic Four movie, Spider-Man spin-off Venom, and comic book adaptation The Red Star. Plus, there's the small matter of Chronicle 2 bubbling around, too.

We'd be surprised if Shadow Of The Colossus turns out to be his next film, given that the project is in the early writing stages. We'll certainly keep you posted as to how this one goes...

Nice to see Trank busy, but I have no idea what this game about (as with most games actually!) so I always see these movies without that baggage, and yes a lot of them are terrible.

Let's hope he can make something of it.

Never played the game either, but I loved Chronicle and can't wait for this!

chronicle 2?  it was a cautionary tale, a morality play; not a superhero franchise.

I'd like another fantastic four movie.  if they can keep trying and failing with Punisher, surely they could keep trying with FF.  I'd rather watch a mediocre FF than Punisher.

This will be good I played the game, but prefered the game before it, ICO and personally think the story for ICO is better.

Yes, the game is fantastic and quite beautiful, but what the hell can they do to make a movie from the material. I'm sorry but I dont want to see a nameless character run around and climb and sleigh 10 giants. Great for gameplay- NOT for a film.

im in, full on silent movie, NO dialogue, guy gets girlfriend to the altar then goes off all alone to kill giants in order to revive her, it woul be epic!!!
