First trailer for Saving Mr Banks

Emma Thompson and Tom Hanks star, in a new film digging into the story behind bringing Mary Poppins to the screen. Here's a trailer...

As we noted when we posted the first image from the film yesterday, Saving Mr Banks is a potentially fascinating project. It stars Emma Thompson as Mary Poppins author P L Travers and Tom Hanks as Walt Disney, and the film explores, amongst other things, the tricky relationship between the pair. That relationship inevitably comes to the fore as the movie of Mary Poppins comes to life.

Amongst the impressive supporting cast are Paul Giamatti, Colin Farrell, Jason Schwartzman, Kathy Baker and B J Novak, and the film has been directed by The Blind Side's John Lee Hancock.

Here, then, is the first trailer for the film, which arrives in the US in December, and the UK in January...

Really great casting from Disney here from Hanks as Walt to Schwartzman & Novak as The Sherman brothers, I think they've got this one right.

There hasn't been an on screen fascist this lovable since The Great Dictator.

You had me at Tom Hanks and Emma Thompson.

Totally sold at 'Hanks + Thompson'. But I do wish they hadn't tweaked the schmaltz right at the end of this. "So he comes to save their father....*your* father..." (cue strings).

Best laugh i've had all day.

Charming stuff!

Emma Thompson + Mary Poppins = Nanny Mcphee. Which is good. I will see this. Other than that, I heard or read somewhere that Walt Disney in real live wasn't the fun guy like he is portraid here, actually the exact opposit. Can someone comfirm this?
