Angelina Jolie's return to the world of Salt might be back on track...

We're not going to knock it, but it seemingly takes quite a lot of time to get a sequel screenplay in place to an Angelina Jolie-starring hit film. For a while, she was mooted to be returning for Wanted 2, a project that's now pressing forward without her. However, there still doesn't appear to be a screenplay fully locked for that one.

Also, it's taken quite a while to sort out a follow-up to what was perceived to be a franchise-starter, 2010's Salt. A solid hit on its release, the spy movie clearly lent itself to a Salt 2, but only now does it look like that might be happening.

It's now being reported that Columbia Pictures is looking to hire Becky Johnston to pen the script for Salt 2. Her previous credits include Barbra Streisand's The Prince Of Tides, and the Brad Pitt-headlined Seven Years In Tibet. Her appointment puts fresh life into a project that seemed to be petering out over screenplay disagreements.

More news on Salt 2 as we hear it. There's still quite a way to go yet, though...
