Paul W S Anderson and Milla Jovovich have put back production of the next Resident Evil movie, for very good family reasons...

The original plan was for the sixth - and apparently final - Resident Evil movie to begin shooting at some point this year, with Milla Jovovich reprising the role of Alice, and her husband, Paul W S Anderson, back on directing duties.

However, in a new post at her Facebook page, Jovovich has confirmed that a happy event for the couple will result in a delay to the film. She's revealed that the pair are expecting their second child, and wrote that "after a lot of discussion, we thought it would be in everyone's best interest to wait till the baby is born before we set out to try and tackle an RE movie. Between the stunt work and what will become my ever-expanding belly, we didn't think pregnancy and zombie killing are the best combo!"

She took a minute to thank those who had already started working on the film in South Africa too, adding that "we are so looking forward to working with you all next summer".

Congratulations to Paul and Milla, then. We'd guess that Resident Evil: The Final Chapter will arrive in cinemas in 2016.
