Confirmed: Paul W S Anderson directing Resident Evil 6

News Simon Brew 14 Mar 2013 - 06:52

Paul W S Anderson is returning once again to the Resident Evil director's chair. Milla Jovovich is back, too...

We're not filing this one as a massive surprise, given that even when's not been directing the Resident Evil movies, he's been overseeing them. But Paul W S Anderson has been confirmed as the director of the now-in-development Resident Evil 6.

A release date for the new movie has already been inked in, with the film set to arrive in cinemas worldwide on or around September 12th 2014. The film wll go before the cameras this autumn, and Anderson has suggested in the past that the sixth movie will round off the cinematic franchise.

Certainly the last film didn't do quite as well as its immediate predecessor. However, Resident Evil: Afterlife still managed to make the small matter of $221m at the worldwide box office, before disc and download revenues were taken into account.

Milla Jovovich will return again too, and we'll have more news on Resident Evil 6 as more is revealed.

First Showing.

Can he at least hire a writer or rewriter? The last film had entertaining action sequences, and some rather good surreal visuals but as soon as the characters opened their mouths all that good work was undone.

these movies are terrible! I like some times naff films but seriously these are worse than anything I've seen.
The one franchise that could actually do with a reebot
make it a trilogy
Start at the house in RE1
Then Raccon City RE2
Then I would end with the Game Code Veronica style and at the original familys house

Yes, was the weakest one so far despite a vaguely promising premise to it. I think. Mostly it was just unmemorable

Holy crap! These films are still making money!?

I have a strong dislike of people complaining about movies they don't like and have no plans to see. When the last film only cost $65 million to make and earns 200+ million at the box-office it's a no brainier that a sequel would be made. I for one will be in line when part 6 is released...for two simple reasons, one they are fun movies and the second I will watch any movie with Milla Jovovich kicking ass!!!

"It's Milla Time!"

Sorry ...

I thought this ones action was laaaaammmeee...

Giant hammer dudes - they just shot them a million straight shots in the head.
Giant licker - zoomed up and POP! Done..
Nazi zombies firing guns... -__-
The 'evil' clone fights were awful, all the 'evil' clones looked like they were shitting themselves when they fired their weapons.. especially Number One!!

Also, Leon should have died because his actor was awful and HAD to be The Crimson Chin!! Seriously, that guy had the BIGGEST chin I've ever seen..

Anyway, LOVE the first four, but for me the film saga finished with the boat scene at the beginning of 5, before Alice is tortured by an annoying noise (that Milla probably couldn't hear, yet the audience had to suffer numerous times!!)

Like a turd you can not flush.

"I have a strong dislike of people complaining about movies they don't like and have no plans to see."

It is called opinion.

Why should people who dislike these movies not have an opinion about them? Is it because it does not match your view of the films?

The Resident Evil franchise will never die

zing!

Sadly.

Yeah, they said that if RE5 did well enough at the box office then they really wanted to do a sixth to finish off the story. RE5 did less than 4 but still a big profit return and (I think) second highest of the series, so they were bound to do one more.

They're not my bag anymore, but it makes sense.

I hate the Twilight movies (I just saw the 1st one last month for the 1st time and it was horrid)...But I'm not gonna waste my opinions on a film series I don't care about and I don't see the point of saying Hollywood should stop making them because just I don't like them...

counter-zing :P

"...they really wanted to do a sixth to finish off the story"

the what?? :)
