Writer hired for Prometheus 2

The writer of next year's Transcendence has been hired to pen a script to Prometheus 2...

20th Century Fox is now pushing ahead with the mooted sequel to last year's Alien prequel of sorts, Prometheus. Prometheus 2 is expected to see Michael Fassbender and Noomi Rapace returning, and Ridley Scott will at least be producing. It's not definite at this stage that he'll be back in the director's chair, though.

What we do know is that Fox is closing in on a screenwriter to pen Prometheus 2. Variety reports that Jack Palgen, who's written Wally Pfister's upcoming directorlal debut Transcendence, is to write the script. We don't know where the narrative will go, short of the fact that Ridley Scott had suggested in previous interviews that this was the film that leads more directly to the first Alien film.

We'll keep you posted as we hear more.

Dear Jack, can we please have some eggs, facehuggers, and aliens. That would be nice. Ooh and some answers too. Thanks.

You mean Jack Paglen, the writer of the extensively rewritten TRASCENDENCE? Nice. You gotta love those WGA credits.

Gotta say, I'm not enthusiastic about this at all. Prometheus was a mess, and I doubt any writer can get it back on track

Good day for sequels... Two extra ones for Amazing Spider-Man and a Prometheus writer, while the one good thing in Highlander bottoms out...

rearrange the following words: a, flogging, horse, dead, stop.

It is possible to save the franchise if it is done correctly. Its just that I have little faith in that happening.

Yeah, its possible. I know I'll end up watching it on DVD at some point, but I'll be keeping my expectations rock bottom

Same here. Maybe they will surprise us. I really hope they do fix the mess they created.

Since Transcendence doesn't come out until next year it's hard to know whether Jack Palgen is a good choice but I think doing with an unknown could be good for the sequel. David Peoples would have been my number one choice.

As soon as those scientists took off their helmets, I was rolling my eyes. Ripley would have let them all die.

Prometheus needed just an extra 30 minutes to provide some sort of satisfying ending and closure to the questions posed. It did not need a whole new movie. Just a decent bit of writing on the original one.

dead stop, a horse flogging
