Edgar Ramirez to replace Gerard Butler in Point Break

The Point Break remake shows no sign of slowing down, as Edgar Ramirez steps in for Gerard Butler.

The casting jigsaw for the Point Break remake may finally be complete, with the news that Edgar Ramirez has stepped into the role vacated by Gerard Butler.

Butler dropped out of the project last week, and he'd been earmarked for the role of Bodhi, played by Patrick Swayze in the original movie. Since then, Ray Winstone has been formally added to the cast, and now we learn that Edgar Ramirez, best known for his work in Zero Dark Thirty, is being lined up as Butler's replacement.

Ericson Core is still on board to direct the film, which starts full production at the end of next month. A release is expected in 2015.

I think the lack of comments on this article shows just how little regard everybody has for this reboot. The old movie still looks and feels fresh today. I'll stick with that one. FU Hollywood.

guess they already filmed some of the stunt work and needed an actor who looked similar at a distance

This will be utter dogshit, sorry I don't have anything nice to say.

Screw the haters! This is going to be the best ever!! A non-stop adrenaline rush.

How this remake got the green light I'll never know. Ray Winstone, some guy from a crappy Australian "soap", the guy who directed DareDevil and now this?

THIS IS GOING TO BE UBERSHITE.
