Phantasm V: Ravager - first trailer

Trailer Ryan Lambie 28 Mar 2014 - 10:55

Director Don Coscarelli returns to his bizarre horror franchise with Phantasm V: Ravager. Here's the first trailer...

There's something comforting about the thought that, after 35 years, Don Coscarelli's still making Phantasm movies. The 1979 original established the director's warped yet thrilling universe, which featured an evil undertaker called the Tall Man, flying killer spheres and gateways to other dimensions.

Phantasm V: Ravager is the first film in the series since 1998's Phantasm IV: Oblivion, but once again stars series regulars Angus Scrimm (as the glowering Tall Man), Michael Baldwin, Bill Thornbury and Reggie Bannister.

Like the previous film, the budget's visibly low, but the same sense of the blackly comic and violently surreal is still in place. There's no word as to when Phantasm V is out in the UK, but when we hear more, we'll be sure to pass it along. In the meantime - and with a NSFW warning for violence and gore - here's that first trailer...

Angus Scrimm... still making movies at 87. What a legend! All hail the Tall Man!!!

Why isn't this a tv series :-)

Sadly, Coscarelli didn't direct this one. He co-wrote and produced it. It was directed by David Hartman. I'm not familiar with him. Oh well. I suppose I should just be glad that another Phantasm film was made and that the original cast is in place.

David Hartman worked with Coscarelli on John Dies at the End and Bubba Ho-Tep (I believe). I'm pretty sure he was his visual effects guy, so they've worked closely together in the past.

That guy scared me like no other when I was little

Couldn't sit through 4 but am still excited about this.

For me this was the best news for years, I was so disappointed Phantasms End (or whatever the title changed to) never made it into production . It'll be nice to finally have a conclusion to the saga and hopefully a nifty complete bluray set

And please god don't let this be an early April fools prank like many have suggested

Cooooome heeeeeere booooooyyyyyyyy

Here in Mississippi, that sounds scarier than it should be

So this is the finale to the Phantasm series? Wonder if they'll be adapting/incorporating the Phantasm 1999 AD script to this?

Cant believe its been 16 years since the last one. Im over the moon!!!

Yeeessss!!! A new Phantasm!!!! I've got an action figure of the Tall Man, I remember when I watched the original, he terrified me and my dad cottoned on to that, knocking on my door at night shouting ''boooooyyyyy!! Thanks to the many trips to the psychiatrist I'm fine now!! I'm going to watch all the others to get me back up to speed before this one comes out, haven't watched them in ages.
