According to the latest reports, it appears that Paul Walker's Brian O'Connor will be retired in Fast & Furious 7...

The tragic death of Paul Walker last year led, understandably, to the lengthy delay of Fast & Furious 7, a franchise sequel originally due for release this spring.

Since that sad event, there's been much speculation as to how Universal will handle the absence of a character who's been key to the Fast series since its inception. It now appears that the character will be retired, giving fans a sense of closure while remaining sensitive to the sad events of last December. Director James Wan and writer Chris Morgan will rewrite certain scenes of the existing script to accommodate the changes, with the eight month delay allowing for the new sequences to be shot.

Walker shot a number of scenes prior to his death, so he will still feature in some capacity, and we saw in the last film that his hero Brian O'Conner was strongly urged to leave his lifestyle behind due to the birth of his son and new fatherly responsibilities.

In fairness, Vin Diesel's Dominic Toretto also showed a desire to quit, but getting in deep in his attempts to get Letty back has started a chain of events that seems to be leading to his gang being picked off one by one.

Fast and Furious 7 is now due out on the 10th April 2015.
