Olympus Has Fallen 2 confirmed

News Simon Brew 2 May 2014 - 06:36

The sequel to Olympus Has Fallen is definitely happening, and we now have a release date too...

This one was pretty close to a no-brainer, in truth. When the action movie Olympus Has Fallen hit relatively big last year, plans were put together rather quickly for a follow up. Said follow-up, London Has Fallen, will transport Gerard Butler's secret service agent to the UK, with a plot set around the funeral of, er, the British Prime Minister.

Thus far, it's unclear whether Antoine Fuqua - who's busy putting the finishing touches to The Equalizer - will direct. But we do have a release date. London Has Fallen will arrive in cinemas - at least in the US - on October 2nd 2015. Production will start later this year.

big ben down is more of an under the counter title

How come London doesn't get a codename? I'm sure we could come up with a few.

Gomorrah has fallen.
Mega City 1 has fallen.
Nero has fallen.

to any South African out there - nkandla has fallen would be just great.

Boo, this crap doesn't warrant a sequel. White House Down was so much more fun.

I think Gomorrah is the best one.

Whitehall Down?

I saw White House Has Fallen and Olympus is Down in the same week and I still struggle to remember which is which. The one where the president fires a rocket launcher, is that this one?

I just looked them up on IMDB to check which is which.

And I've forgotten again.

Too mediocre...to remember...

I quite enjoyed both Olympus has Fallen and White House Down, yeah they aren't amazing but I had fun with them. I preferred White House Down slightly due to it having fun with the premise, but liked that Olympus delivered old school Die Hard action. I wouldn't mind a sequel to either of them but would prefer DREDD 2.

White House down is the one where Channing Tatum threatens a squirrel with a gun. Olympus has fallen is the one where Gerard Butler stabs a Korean terrorist in the head.

Nice one Gavin. Helen Zille and Julius Malema can team up and play bickering partners out to rescue public protector Thuli Madonsela from the clutches of Zuma and his henchmen, The climax can take place in the fire pool ;-)
