There may not be a Metroid movie in the works right now - but Ronda Rousey for one would like one to happen.

Given that there’s no shortage of movies based on videogames – with Angry Birds and Warcraft just around the corner, too – it’s little surprise that hit console titles are being scouted for potential big screen adventures. But how about the classic Nintendo series, Metroid?

Ronda Rousey, for one, would be keen to see it. In fact, more to the point, she’d be keen to star in it as well.

“I’ve always wanted to be Samus”, she told GameSpot in a recent interview. “That would be badass”. Samus is the star of the Metroid games, of course, and Rousey said that “I love how people found out later that it was a hot chick on the inside”. Samus’ gender had not been revealed, after all, until a twist ending come the end of the early Metroid game.

“Most of the day you’re in a suit”, Rousey added, “so you can just hang out and eat donuts and be the star of Metroid. I hope they make a movie out of that”.

It’s unclear, as of yet, if anyone is actively pursuing a Metroid big screen adventure. But we’re with Rousey on this one. We would like them to.
