Tom Hiddleston on Marvel's The Enchantress
Tom Hiddleston has been chatting about his desire to see The Enchantress introduced into the Marvel cinematic universe.
The creative team at Marvel and Tom Hiddleston have done a grand job with the character of Loki, making what could easily have been a one dimensional villain into a relatable and engaging antagonist with shades of grey. Indeed, you get the sense that in some quarters Loki is held in higher regard than Thor, which re-enforces just how good Hiddleston is in the role.
With Thor: The Dark World nearing release Hiddleston has been chatting about the character and his wish to see the relationship with The Enchantress explored on screen. Chatting to Total Film, he said that "when I was first reading the comics, the relationship with the Enchantress was one of the really fun things I though would be good to explore, and may have even pitched it to Kevin Feige at some point ... Because she's as sneaky and untrustworthy as he was". He added that "they basically had a really fantastic and twisted relationship until they both say, 'you know what? I don't trust you as far as I can throw you. It's over'. Because they kept betraying each other, in a way. So it could be good".
With Marvel yet to announce their full slate of upcoming films it can't be out of the question (although it nonetheless seems unlikely) that some day we could see a standalone Loki movie, and if it explored the above relationship, it could be very interesting indeed.
Thor: The Dark World is set for release on October 30th in the UK, and the week after in the US.
