With the release a little over a month away Alan Taylor has been chatting about what we can expect from the Thor sequel.

Alan Taylor has recently been announced as the director of the next Terminator film, but before his attentions turn to that project he has the small matter of promoting Thor: The Dark World, which arrives in cinemas next month.

In an recent interview with SFX,  he admitted that "I love doing period stuff, and I was immersed in Game Of Thrones [which Taylor also directed chunks of]. I was lucky that Marvel seemed to have an appetite for that this time. They'd consciously steered away from that kind of thing in the first one". He continued, saying "they wanted to make sure they were distinguishing themselves from Lord Of The Rings, but by the time I came along it seemed like they were ready to embrace a slightly more historical attitude towards it".

Taylor concluded, adding that "to me the defining thing was that Thor is a superhero amongst many superheroes, but the thing that makes him different is the thing that should be featured in the movie. And that he's also a warrior prince from an ancient culture".

Thor: The Dark World is released on October 30th 2013. We eagerly await it...
