Following on from the trailer for Iron Man 3, Kevin Feige has been singing the praises of Sir Ben Kinglsey...

Last week we got a first look at the trailer of Shane Black's Iron Man 3 and it looked really rather good. Appreciating it's dangerous to judge a film by its trailer, it seems there's lots to be positive about where Iron Man 3 is concerned.

One of the key aspects was seeing Sir Ben Kingsley in action as The Mandarin (albeit very, very briefly), who seems to be the most serious threat that Robert Downey Jr's Tony Stark has faced in any of the Marvel movies to date.Casting an actor of the quality of Kingsley's talent usually results in good things particularly when he's on form (we'll ignore his appearance in Thunderbirds though). Marvel's Kevin Feige has been chatting about Kingley's impact on the production, and seems to concur.

“On his last take of his first full day as The Mandarin, when they yelled 'cut!' the entire crew burst into applause, spearheaded by Mr. Downey himself. It was pretty amazing to see that", Feige said. “That's what you get when you hire Sir Ben Kingsley. He's so excited about his part and so into this character, and frankly just scaring the heck out of everybody. They're like, 'you’ve broken us out of our skeptical malaise!'”

Of course, it's not unusual for actors to be applauded on a film set, although usually that's on their last day, rather than their first. Here's hoping Iron Man 3 lives up to the potential it's shown thus far...
